You know what synesthesia? So there you go, from the Greek syn (union joint) more aisthesis (perception), synesthesia is a neurological condition in which the stimulus in one sense triggers a perception in another sense automatic. And on top of this concept was born the exhibition "synesthesia," Leonardo Miranda coming to stimulate the senses. There are dozens of types of synesthesia. The most common is the view of each letter or number of a different color. And the colors assigned to each letter of the alphabet also differ from person to person. Some synesthetes "see" sounds, others feel the taste of words or forms, the smell of the objects they touch, see pictures to eating certain foods, and other mixed feelings.

After two seasons in Europe where it had its first edition, finally arrives at Rio de Janeiro to individual shows will be ready in five interconnected galleries and will be open to the public on the second floor of the Cultural Center of the Federal Court on 14 December 2011 to 12 February 2012 from Tuesday to Sunday from 12h to 19h for free.


They are 33 in all the art works involving ancient works that were taken to Europe (Portugal and France, in Santa Clara and Gallery at Centre Socio Culturel Madeleine Reberioux respectively) and USA (New York City on Monday Artexpo NY) and current jobs. Among the works are: large format photographs, printed in various media's own photo paper as well as metal, wood and fabric; fictional, interactive installations, sculptures in metal, videography, poems and songs. This transit between languages ​​and executed entirely by Leonardo makes the environment in an atmosphere always unusual and the curious gaze of the observer.

The concept of the exhibition is "Art for All" where the audience becomes essential, interactive and may respond by writing with chalk on the black walls, painting phrases on a mannequin in one of the facilities, writing poetry and hanging on clotheslines, performing free and short in a place designated specifically for this purpose throughout the season. The inclusion is essential for full development of this concept, then it was translated to the IBC all texts in Braille (which will be part of the premises). All the videos have subtitles and audio, as well as more than half of the works can be touched or manipulated by the public. "Making art is a means of developing the creativity of the artist and the viewer, creating a critical sense of citizenship and individual," says Leonardo. The fine arts are a possible way for this transformation. The photograph and facilities proposed by the fictional artist allow the expansion of the look and feeling of the spectator, displacing the common axis of the everyday and commonplace.


You must reverse the near-indifference of man to contemplate his own synesthesia, the viewer consciously reconnecting with his own humanity, feelings, memories, perceptions through sensory stimuli through the same interference and work in space, adding elements and their own art. There are no barriers to the enjoyment of this book that touches the public in all its senses. Proof of this was the successful seasons of France and Portugal, which in addition to publicize the work of Brazilian art from abroad, returns to Brazil now modified by the "baggage" that acquired by interaction with the European perspective on the work.

The artist hopes this exhibition with sensory, through its multitude of industries and artistic elements, craftsmanship and value the craft of "being an artist." "Today, we increasingly see the need to recover the essential human in art object, and as a means for using the technology itself. Our search is the delicacy of communication, to touch people through the senses, beyond the eye. Music, poetry, painting, photography, creativity and art to transform the spaces in various ways is what makes our quest for living art. We want to reclaim the space for making art (a place where anything is possible), to explore what we do best within us, and so we play what is best in each other, "he explains.
